Bondalem is a fishing village on the North-East coast of Bali — 5,000 people, one main road, and the clearest sea on the island. We're at the end of that road.
No all-inclusive buffets. No pool bars. Just a guesthouse that opens directly onto the beach, run by a family who has lived here their whole lives.

Four rooms across two floors of our main house. Each has a private outdoor terrace, a semi-open tropical bathroom open to the sky, and a fan that hums you to sleep.
Kupu-Kupu means butterfly. A private house with two double beds, a garden terrace, and all the quiet of the village around you. Perfect for families or two couples travelling together.
Every morning she goes to the village market. Every morning she comes back and bakes bread. Every morning breakfast is fresh, local, and made from scratch.
Dinner is a table d'hôte — everyone at one table, sharing Balinese dishes, sambals, rice. Like a family meal, because that's what it is.
Fruit, homemade bread, eggs, Bali coffee — on your terrace as the sea wakes up.

The Bali Sea here is different. No wavebreakers, no tourist boats — just a coral reef 20 metres from shore and water you can see straight through.
